Seriously, what? Like so many families, we are head scratching about what has happened to normal people. Food is so expensive now, our mortgage, like many families, is about to rocket in price and our energy bills which were capped are also due to go up in cost. We understand why but it doesn't help matters much.
My weekly food shop for 2 adults and 2 children is well over £130 per week just for the basics. I used to be able to comfortably food shop for £90-£100 per week. Even my husband has noticed the difference in the store, which is really saying something. The flexible part of our income goes on food, if we allow it to run away with us it really does take up a huge part of our monthly budget.
I have taken a break, I didn't quite know where I wanted to go with this website so I stopped posting for a bit.
In recent days, I've seen media reports on ultra processed food being behind many health issues and with two daughters absolutely hooked on sugar and processed food - my fault, I know - I really do want to make more effort to make foods from scratch. Not only will it save us money but it will also be healthier and less processed.
I work full time + so I'm not time rich so if I can fit it in, you can too. Let's see how much money we can really save with a bit of invested time & we will hopefully also see some health benefits too.
Let's go...
