Summer is arguably the best time of year for a child. Long school holidays, longer evenings and sometimes we’re even blessed with better weather. Lets look at ways to keep the kids amused for less.
The summer holidays just roll on forever don't they? If you let it, entertaining children throughout the summer holiday would cost an absolute fortune.
Go for a walk
You would be amazed at how easy it is to find great walks using an app like Komoot. It allows you to plan a route and even in the city there are plenty of landmarks to find. Footpaths and bridle ways are clearly marked and easy to follow.
Go to the beach
Around the UK there are so many beautiful beaches. I grew up on one of the best ones (although a little biased) & a seaside day trip is how I spent most of my childhood. I love far from the beach now but I absolutely adore a walk along the beach in all weathers! Some of the best in the UK As rated by The Beach Guide
Visit an area of outstanding natural beauty
Our home from home is the New Forest, we holiday there and we drive down for the day on a regular basis. The UK has several areas of natural beauty and they all have their own individual reasons for visiting. The New Forest, although it has a cost attached to travelling there, has a lot of free entertainment which I will cover in another post.
Days out with Tesco Clubcard
We’re fortunate enough to live close to a number of the attractions that feature in the Tesco days out deal. Every summer without fail we visit Chessington World of Adventures & our children love it. We use the vouchers and it ends up costing us a fraction of the usual price.
Visit the local museum
Lots of museums are free to enter or ask for a donation for upkeep. Everyone learns something new at a museum.
Pack plenty of snacks and a change of clothes for the littles... the best days out always require a change of clothes in the summer!
