We pack up for the day & we go. That’s how we roll. I’ve usually got a couple of packed bags pretty well ready to cope with most outings, want to know what’s in the bags?
I keep a Seasonal Bag packed and rotate the with summer/winter stuff.
A complete change of clothes for each child because a wet, cold or dirty child is the very end of a good day out.
Suncream
Hayfever meds
A hat for each child, either a sun hat or warm hat.
Waterproofs
Gloves and Scarf, for colder days
A roll up picnic blanket
An old towel
Carrier bags
Wet wipes
A spare jumper for each child
Hand Sanitiser
First Aid Kit (more on that below)
Vaseline
I keep this bag packed because it’s so much easier to just grab it and leave. When we get to our destination, this one usually stays in the car. Most of it is ‘useful to have stuff’ & can be retrieved in an emergency - like your child falls in a stream.
We also keep a cool bag semi-packed too.
Plastic plates
Water bottles
Thermal Mugs
Thermos Flasks for a days supply of coffee or tea.
JUST ADD FOOD AND SNACKS I have learned never to leave home without a significant amount of food and snacks because a hungry child is not a happy one!
I mentioned my first aid kit in my seasonal bag, its been a day saver many times and it’s not actually that big. All
medication is age appropriate for my children. Inside I keep:
Pain relief - Calpol, Paracetamol etc.
Insect bite relief - in case of stings
Antihistimines
Elastoplasts - various sizes
Antiseptic wipes
Tweezers
Needle
Also very handy to keep in the car is a travel potty. I never leave home without my one. We love this one.
It sounds like a lot, in reality, it’s not much to carry at all if you leave the seasonal bag in the car whilst you go off and have fun!
