Let’s talk maths for a moment, boring I know!
Who looks at the per kg price when shopping? It’s right next to the price here in the UK.
For the same quantity of pasta, if you were to buy a 1kg bag per week, you would pay £4.65 for 3kg.
£1.05 difference. Say you go through 1kg per week - that’s £18.20 per year, just on pasta.
One more time, let’s look at chicken;
The product is the same but you’re actually paying £6.14 for 950g if you buy the smaller packaging size - of course the numbers don’t fit quite as neatly as the pasta but the principle is the same. The closest I can get is 650g x 3 = 1950g (£12.60) vs 950g x 2 = 1900g (£11.60), saving £1. If you do this every other week, it’s £26 per year.
2 very small changes, with zero compromise on product or quality have theoretically have saved £44.20 per year, what else might be lurking in your shopping trolley that adds up over the course of the year?
